Gift For Lauren

Our temporary office manager will be leaving us next week to return to college life. She filled in for the summer until we could hire a permanent replacement. I've grown so fond of Lauren! She really brightened up the place with her fun, sweet spirit. This pillow is for her new dorm decor, which is black, white and red. It's made with LB Thick And Quick Chenille.
I'm afraid I'm going to cry and make an idiot of myself on her last day.

I've Been Tagged
Well, I've just discovered the Kimberly has tagged me! I'll get you girlfriend ;-)
id•i•o•syn•cra•sy - a structural or behavioral characteristic peculiar to an individual or group. Write down 5 of your own idiosyncrasies, then if you wish, tag 5 people.
1. I can't stand for the food on my plate to touch. My hubby says it all goes to the same place, but I say that I have to taste it before it gets there!
2. When I hang out with people of different countries or accents, I tend to pick up their accent quickly. I think it's annoying to my family.
3. I like the clothes in my closet to be separated according to season, style, and type.
4. I store my shoes in shoe boxes. Lots of shoe boxes!
5. I get really annoyed when my ink pens aren't where they're supposed to be! At work or home. That's a major irritation of mine!
Okay, I guess I'm not too weird. Now, for 5 more people. Hmmm...Randa, over at Crochet Craze;
Sally, at Whatcha Been Up To; Yarn Duck, at Waddlin Along; Squishybear , at Crafty Punk; and Jessi, at Addicted To Crochet. Hope y'all haven't been tagged yet. Have fun girlfriends!

Learning Thread

Britti requested this choker and cuff from the new book, Fun And Funky Crochet. Oh how I like thread!!! She's happy with the set, too. I used #10 thread for this project. There are 2 other choker patterns in the book that she wants next. I'm thrilled! That means a longer break from that camo afghan. YAY!

1st Time Tester

Andrea from Crochetville was kind enough to let me test her Dog Bone Mat pattern! Of course, it doesn't look as great as hers, but I love it. She writes up an easy to read pattern. I used 2 skeins Mainstay, and 2 skeins Red Heart, combining to make 4 strands to crochet together. I think I may make myself a rug to match with my leftover yarn! Thanks Andrea!!!

New Stuff!

I'm so thrilled whenever I get new crochet stuff!!! We went out to eat for our anniversary the other night, and afterwards went to BAM. I know, you're all thinking "how romantic"! Well, my hubby knows the way to my heart. After getting 2 new crochet books and the Crochet! mag, I then decided that Michaels would be a good place to visit. And indeed it was! I had to have some cotton for a few new dishcloths. Who knew that I'd love making dishcloths? My daughter had also requested a black choker, so I decided that I must try thread crochet (which required a new hook, too, of course). I wish special occasions happened more often!

It's Alive! It's Alive!

Yeah, I'm still kicking. I'm doing much better, but this is my busy season at the studio, so posting will still be sporadic.
I've also been sick of the CAMO! Ugh! I had to do something else, hence the reason for the above photos. On the left is my MIL posing with her new Ruffle Scarf, made with Joanns Sensations Rainbow Boucle. On the right, my first dishcloth! Yes, that's right, I've never before made a dishcloth. I thought they were for display purposes, or last minute quicky gifts for someone else to display. HA! Was I wrong. People actually use them, say they're great. So, I jumped on the ol crochet bandwagon and made myself one with Lionbrand Cotton. I just put it on my sink today. My family's like, "what's that"? Gotta teach 'em everything.

"Club Crochet"
I'm so excited! I've found a local crochet group that meets monthly. A friend of mine received a mailer from a local fabric shop, where the meeting is held. So we both decided to go. This is an out of this world fabric shop, let me tell ya! 2 stories of fabulous fabric. Anyway, they have a wonderful little niche of very NICE yarns, and CROCHET supplies. They also had knitting stuff [(whoopie) (sorry to you knitters, but crocheters have it hard)] There were only 4 of us, but hey, it's a start. All this, and only 20 minutes from my house! Am I lucky or what?!

I'm Merino, Who Are you?

You are Merino Wool.
You are very easygoing and sweet. People like to
keep you close because you are so softhearted.
You love to be comfortable and warm from your
head to your toes.
I wandered over to Karla's Korner, and found this cute quiz. Thanks Karla!
What kind of yarn are you?
brought to you by Quizilla
I'm Baaaack!
It's been a long week. I was in the hospital for 4 days with an intestinal infection. Yucky poo! (literally) I'm so glad to be home and on the computer again. My hubby brought my crochet to the hospital, but I didn't have the energy to do it. You know you're a crochet addict when you try to crochet and you're double dog sick! Speaking of dogs, my furbabies are glad to have me home. They're sticking pretty close to me. I have an entourage as I go from room to room.
Yesterday, I received a surprise Herrschners package in the mail from my "Fairy Stitchmother" ( Crochetville Wishlist). What a wonderful and thoughtful way to be cheered up!!! She sent me 2 skeins of wool yarn in aqua and ruby. I think they would be gorgeous felted together as a purse. I can't wait to try my hand at felting! Thank you, thank you, Fairy Stitchmother! May God bless your kindness to a stranger(me).
I'm about a quarter of the way finished with my camo afghan. So far, I'm not even tired of looking at it. My edges even look pretty good. Edging ideas, anyone?
Until next time my cyber friends, may God bless you all.

Sunday, Sunday
As opposed to Monday, Monday. Remember that song from the Mama's And The Papa's? Guess I just dated myself.
I woke in the early, predawn hours of the morning, as us old women are prone to do; to go to the bathroom. The bathroom is in the same place that it's been in for 12 years, mind you. For some reason unbeknownst to me, I slamed into the open door, and broke my little toe. The pain caused me to jolt forward, where I almost fell into the jacuzzi. As I'm hanging onto the side of the tub, I hear my sweet, caring hubby quietly slur "honey, are you alright?" After which he promptly returned to sleepy land and snoring. I managed to hobble back to bed on my own.
Getting dressed for church wasn't really a big deal; until I put on my high heels. Oh the agony! I then had to go into my darling daughters room to find (yet another pair of) my shoes that were a little more open in the toe area. That yielded a small measure of relief, but there was NO way I was going to wear flats!
On to church, where I endured the glances and snickers. It was just last year at this time that I broke my foot by falling in the closet at work ( my adoring mother asked me if I was "coming out"; ha ha, very funny) I won't go into detail about my other little accidents. Let's just say my church friends are amused at my clumsiness. At least they smile when I come in the door!
To add insult to injury?! My hubby wanted to eat out (I did change clothes and shoes first). I had strange people staring at me now. No biggy, really. But, we went to a discount store called Big Lots. Everyone over at Crochet Partners had been going on and on about the wonderful yarn sale. After hobbling around the place for 30 minutes or so, unable to locate this fantastic deal, we finally ask where it is. A precious, sweet sales lady says " we're all out". So what did I do? I went home and made cheesecake, of course. Key Lime Cheesecake. Yummmy! I guess the day wasn't so bad after all.
