Knifty Knitter Loom Set

Michaels had these on sale for $9.97 this weekend, plus I had a coupon for an additional 20% off. I just couldn't pass it up!!!

KK Hats

A warning: Loom Knitting is addictive! In just a few hours, voilá, 2 hats! One is a gift for my uncle, the other for my little 4 year old cousin (Britti is making a scarf to go with the hat).

I have discovered, however, that I can make only so many hats. No one in my family really wears this kind of hat. Surely there are patterns out there for other stuff, like doggie sweaters!

Choices, A Thought Provoking Article

It's always so wonderful when you find out you're not crazy! Or that you're not the only one with strange, little idiosyncrises. I read this thought provoking piece at Crochetty Lady's blog. I won't copy it here, you can just go over to her place to read it. But here is my response to her article:

"I wonder if this is a trait of all creative people, or just perfectionistic creative people? I really thought that I was the only one with this "problem". Last year, I spent a lot of time and money to purchase the One Stroke painting kits and accessories. I tried it one time, and didn't like the results. My daughter said, "do you think Donna Dewberry was perfect when she started"? Somehow, I guess I did. She then remarked, "was your first photograph perfect"? As a professional photographer, I knew that it wasn't. She sure is a wise 17 year old. Unfortunately, I haven't picked up the brush again (yet). I, too, spend an inordinate amount of time on the computer, searching for patterns, books and such. I just started this wonderful craft of crochet about 11 months ago, and already have dozens of books, and literally hundreds of patterns saved. I'm almost afraid that searching is more of the hobby than crochet! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and perspective with the rest of us hobbiests (is that a word? Now I'll obsess until I look it up)."

Please drop me a line to share your your thoughts (and just to remind me that I'm not alone).

Be blessed, y'all!

My First Baby Blanket

My cousin is expecting her new son any day now! This took about a month of evenings to complete. Am I slow or what? The yarn is Bernat Baby Coordinates, and the pattern is from Herrschners Blue Ribbon Afghans.

Britti knitted a hat to match ( her first hat ). Perhaps she'll let me post a pic.
