You know you're addicted when you take your crochet project to a piano recital. A camouflage yarn crochet project. To your own daughters recital.
My darling daughter went to her recital early to practice her duet with a friend. When I walked in carrying my small denim yarn tote, she said "MOTHER!" Well.... I had to stay awake somehow, right, I reasoned? I did sit in the back. I didn't pull it out until the recital started. I kept it low in my lap. I put it away before the finale (which, by the way, was my daughters duet ). Isn't that being a good mother? The only problem? My cable hook end kept hitting the bench, which made my daughter and her friends giggle. Hey, I'm forgiven!

Conquering Mt. Camo!
I'm climbing this mountain of yarn, Mt Camo. So far the climb has been easy, but who knows what perils await around the bend? The people there only speak Tunisian. Specifically, TSS and TPS. Occasionally, I come across a horde of angry frogs. It's best to avoid them if possible. I'm not sure how long I'll be there, but I must leave by Christmas, to see my brother. Please pray for my safe return.

And What To My Wondering Eyes Should Appear?!
But a box from Herrschners!!!( and no reindeer ) Yay, my yarn is here. I think I'm past the urge to send it back. I came home from work yesterday to find the box on my kitchen table. Couldn't get it open fast enough. 24 skeins of "lovely" camo, just waitin to become something, like an afghan.
I've had several great suggestions as to stitches and patterns. So I sat down with my camo last night and worked 'em out. I "think" I've decided to do Tunisian( just not the basketweave ). I love the way it makes a softer fabric (hey, gotta get some happiness outta that yarn ). I've completed the base and 2 rows of TPS, hopefully to prevent curling. Next, I've done some rows of TSS. I just love the little perfect squares. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to alternate with another stitch or not. Hmmm.... are 24 skeins going to be enough?

Good Grief Charlie Brown
This camo afghan is driving me nuts, and I haven't started it yet! Someone suggested the basketweave stitch done in Tunisian. Loved that idea. Practiced the TPS and the TKS separately. So far so good. Just put 'em together, what do ya get? Gaps. Holes. I guess it's just a holey basket (holey, not righteous). My brother's not gonna be putting stuff in an afghan, right? So gaps shouldn't matter, right? Wrong (re:previous post on perfectionism). When that yarn finally gets here, it may be going right back. Yeah, sounds like a plan to me.

Excitement!
My dogs started furiously barking early this morning. Then I heard it too. The UPS truck!!! Yipee! My yarn from Herrschners! I ran to the door and found a SMALL box. Hmmm... did they only send me 1 or 2 skeins? It was light weight like yarn. On man! It was just a part that my husband had ordered. It was too early in the morning for such a big let down.

Dead Frog In The Middle Of The Road
I finally had to just cut the yarn!!!!!!!
I was making a beach cover up for myself out of the blue Sensations Boucle. After discovering that I cannot join rounds, I ended up frogging, then frogging some more. Boucle doesn't frog well, does it?! Instead of trying to do it in the round, I may try to modify the pattern to make a front and a back, then assemble.
Being the perfectionist that I am, I try to crochet perfectly. I don't give myself allowances for being new to the craft. Any of you have this problem? My Motto: If at first you don't succeed, give it up.

Camo
My brother has requested a camouflage afghan for Christmas. I told him that I don't do ugly! Well anyway, none of the craft stores in my area carries camo yarn so I ordered 24 skeins of it from Herrschners for .77 each. I thought that was a pretty good deal. Free shipping, too! My order should be here in about a week. I hope my brother forgets about asking me, so that I can surprise him for Christmas. While I "joyfully" wait for the yarns arrival, I'll be trying to decide on a pattern of some sort. Any ideas????

My Favorite Flower
It always reminds me of my first cruise. My hubby had these delivered to our cabin as a surprise. Our cabin was filled with the aroma of Stargazers. Now, ever so often, my home has this glorious aroma as well. For this Mothers day, they were combined with yellow roses. He sure knows how to woo this woman!

Finally! Spring
My favorite time of year!!! It's finally here!!!
My hubby made some new window boxes for our front windows. I'm painting them a cranberry color. Next, I'm going to order some gingerbread trim, paint it taupe, and put on the front of the boxes. I just love a cottagey look.
For mothers day, I received a Hibiscus Tree from hubby, and some yarn to make my beach cover up from Britti. Yay! I feel loved. Tomorrow we'll take our mothers out to eat. I think steak is on the horizon.
