Oral Surgery and Counting
What a day! Britti had oral surgery today to bring down a stubborn tooth. They go up into the gum, put a bracket on the hidden tooth, then attach a little chain from the bracket to her braces. Ugh! Usually when I have a wait at a doctors office, I read. I end up reading the same line over and over before I realize what I'm doing. So I start over, only to do the same thing again. This time, I took my crochet! What a revelation! I was so busy counting my stitches, the time flew by. The nurse comes to get us, Britti is ready to go. She's a little loopy, but otherwise fine. After we get her settled in at home, I decide to finish my crochet project. I reach for the pattern for the next rows instructions, but it's not in my bag. My dear hubby left it in the chair at the oral surgeons office, an hours drive away. (he picked up our stuff and took it to the car while I received the doctors insructions) Hopefully, they're going to mail it to me. There is a beach cover up pattern I want to try from that magazine.

Sophisticated
Britti had a wonderful time! I don't think that she sat down very much, though. The decorations of the Prom were in the oriental style, so her escort filled his car with cherry blossoms to surprise her. The After Prom Party lasted until 6:00 am! Our community businesses donated lots of wonderful prizes to be given out, so she won some money and a DVD.
These are just 2 of her studio portraits. I may post more later( or I could change the blog name to "Overly Proud Mom").

Another one!
This is so pretty! I just received this one from Yarn Tomato. She has been so busy, and was just able to get it to me. These 2 creative ladies are over at Crochetville.org. You should check 'em out, if you haven't already.

Prom Night!
Prom night is finally here. We've spent the whole day getting ready. Nails, hair , make-up, studio portraits. It's a little stressful, but a lot of fun. I guess I'm living vicariously through my daughter. But gosh, when I was her age, there were no dresses like that. And I never wore a size 2, either. Not even when I was born.
Check back in a week or so for a look at her studio portraits.

Nick's Home For The Week!
Actually, he came home specifically to see his sister dressed up for prom, and to scare her date. At 6'4", he can scare most anyone. I immediately put him to work on my blog. Being the novice that I am, I take all the help that I can get! He thinks so many buttons are tacky, but I love 'em.
I took today off from work so that we can hang out together. So, it's to the mall. He's such a nut, I'm sure he'll try to embarrass me in some way. Oh the joys of motherhood!

Boucle Yarn, Oh My!
I recently purchased this lovely boucle for my beach cover-up (blue), and for a bikini wrap (pink) for my daughter. What a nightmare!!!!! This stuff is impossible. I've made 2 practice swatches that are a mess. 1) I can't get the gauge right, and 2) I can't even see my stitches. Can't even tell by feeling. I am NOT going to let this yarn get the best of me! It's a fight to the death!
wanna be notified of the funeral home my husband will use?

Another Year Older.....
Another year wiser? Hmmm, I'll think on that one.
My hubby took me to O'Charleys yesterday, just the 2 of us. Afterwards, he took me shopping, and where do I want to go? JoAnns!!!! He bought me 4 more crochet books and some yarn. I'm afraid he thinks I'm nuts. But that's what I wanted. I ended up with 2 patterns for a beach cover-up, and can't decide which one to make. Then, it was over to Books A Million, where I end up with...? A crochet magazine, of course.
Tomorrow, we'll go to my aunts house for my birthday dinner. Yummy!!! My family is so cool! God certainly has blessed me in that department. And, I thank God for another year.

Learning the Bullion Stitch!
I'm so excited!!!! I downloaded the tutorial from Elegant Crochet by Bonnie Pierce: http://members.aol.com/gandal195/elegantcrochet.html . I perservered, as Bonnie recommends. This was harder for me to learn than Tunisian, but I know it will be well worth the time spent. Now, I also need to learn how to keep it straight, and not widen as it gets bigger. My dear hubby has ordered me some of her books for my b'day. I can't wait until they arrive!!! I'm sure with practice my stitches will improve.
